History Company History

For more than seven decades, our company has continued to evolve—driven by craftsmanship, innovation, and an unwavering commitment to quality. What began in 1950 as a small wire-drawing workshop in Hyogo, Japan, has grown into a trusted manufacturer of advanced stainless steel and specialty fine wires serving industries across Japan and beyond.

Founding and Early Growth

Our journey began in 1950, when the Sakai family established Sakai Wire Drawing Works. As demand for higher-performance materials increased, we relocated to Osaka and incorporated as Sakai Wire Co., Ltd., shifting our focus from non-ferrous metals to stainless steel wire—laying the foundation for our future expertise.

Throughout the 1960s and 1970s, we expanded our production capabilities, opened new facilities in Osaka and Nara, and invested in advanced equipment. These upgrades enabled us to produce finer and more diverse wire products, entering new markets such as electric heating wire and hard steel wire.

Building a Modern Production Base

In 1985, we consolidated our operations at a newly built headquarters and factory building in Yamato-Koriyama, Nara. This milestone marked a major step toward modernized production, enhanced quality control, and streamlined operations.

By the late 1980s, we had entered the ultra-fine electronic materials market, introducing sensor-equipped systems and promoting unmanned production—well ahead of industry trends.

Innovation Through the Heisei Era

The 1990s and 2000s were defined by continuous innovation. We expanded into titanium fine wire, introduced new spring wire technologies, and launched a processed-products business utilizing stainless steel fine wire. Our commitment to quality was recognized through ISO 9001 certifications (2000, 2008, 2015).

Digital transformation accelerated with the introduction of the SUP-core IT system and the company-wide e-plus-1 reform project. During this period, we also earned recognition from regional organizations, received multiple manufacturing subsidies, and strengthened ties with the local community through sponsorships and cultural contributions.

Advancing into the Reiwa Era

Entering the Reiwa era, we continued to push boundaries in ultra-fine wire manufacturing—achieving mass-production capabilities for medical-grade stainless steel wires used in catheter guidewires. We expanded our presence on B2B platforms, introduced next-generation wet wire-drawing machines, and deepened engagement with local education through hands-on manufacturing events for children.

Our commitment to sustainability and workplace excellence was formalized with the publication of our Environmental Philosophy & Policy and our registration as a Nara Prefecture Employee Shine Workplace Promotion Company.

Digital Transformation and Ultra-Fine Wire Leadership

Recent years have seen rapid progress in automation and smart manufacturing. We introduced automatic rewinding systems, IoT-based diameter monitoring, and AI-enhanced surface inspection—strengthening our position as a leader in precision wire manufacturing.

By 2025 and 2026, we achieved production milestones with SUS304 ultra-fine wires as thin as φ0.012 mm (≈0.00047 inch) and φ0.011 mm (≈0.00043 inch), demonstrating world-class technical capability.

In 2026, we were certified as a Health & Productivity Management Outstanding Organization, reflecting our dedication not only to manufacturing excellence but also to the well-being of our employees.

Quality Quality Policy

Delivering high customer satisfaction
and strengthening our management foundation.

We go forward step by step.

We go forward
step by step.

Our Quality Policy has remained unchanged since the day we first obtained ISO certification. With customer satisfaction at the center of everything we do, we continuously advance our Daily Improvement Activities.

We follow the PDCA cycle as our fundamental approach:

Plan Define actions and set clear objectives
Do Execute the plan with precision
Check Verify, evaluate, and review results
Act Implement improvements and strengthen the process

Before the PDCA cycle begins, we believe two elements come first: “Think”—to reflect deeply, and “Dream”—to envision the future we aim to create.

Guided by these values, our PDCA cycle turns every day. We will continue striving for excellence, and we sincerely appreciate your continued expectations and support.
